One thing I thought people might find valuable is to review some of the iPhone Apps I have dealt with.  If you know me, then you know my iPhone is about the only materialistic thing that I consider extremely valuable.  It definitely has been a great invention for me.  The phone and MP3 player have been a necessity but it is the Apps that make the phone worth it.  I used to play games non-stop on the iPhone but I eventually realized that it was sapping my time so I stopped playing games altogether.  Since then, I have been able to focus my energy on other ventures such as this blog and more reading.  But there are Apps that I consider a must have for most people and I felt that I would share them now.

Shazam

Shazam is a music search engine that allows you to start the application and let it “listen” to the song that might be playing on the radio and it will identify the song for you, who sings it, what album it is on, and will even allow you to click a button that takes you to iTunes so you can buy it in the iTunes store.  It has come in very handy and can even pick up songs in loud settings.  I was once at the Texas Rangers MLB game and there was a song playing in the stadium along with the noises of the crowd.  I started Shazam and it managed to pick it up.

Pocket Informant (Pro Version)

Pocket Informant is a calendar, to-do list, and alarm rolled into one.  The iPhone has the calendar and alarm features already installed and you can use the calendar for your to-do lists but the Informant has one crucial thing that helps me out big time.  It syncs with Google Calendar.  So when I don’t have my iPhone, I can use Google Calendar online for the same thing.  They automatically and quickly sync with each other wirelessly.  You can sync the default calendar with Outlook but Outlook is computer based, not internet based.  So if you don’t have your iPhone or the computer that you originally put all your calendar information on, then you will not have access to your calendar.  At least with Google, I can access it anywhere with an internet connection.  Also, it will pop up an alarm when something is due on the calendar.

TWC (The Weather Channel)

I think everyone needs a weather App.  This one is free and has weather video and radar on it.  It gives you the ten day forecast and a more detailed 36 hour forecast.  It is much more advanced than the basic iPhone default weather app and best of all, it is free too.

Mantis Bible Study

Mantis Bible Study is a must have App for anyone that studies the Bible or just needs an App to occasionally look up a verse, word, or phrase.  I primarily use it as a concordance but I also use it to bookmark and make notes on verses that I randomly think of on the go.  The concordance feature far surpasses Strong’s Concordance in book format.  You can look up any phrase and find verses with any of the words, all of the words, or the exact phrase.

Autostitch

Autostitch can take several photographs and stitch them together to make a panoramic photograph.  It is extremely handy when you want to catch a wide angle shot but forgot the digital SLR camera.  Now you can take panoramic photos with your iPhone.

Flixster

Flixster is an amazing App that identifies your location and tells you the movie listings for movie theaters near you.  Additionally you can watch movie trailers.
